“When I looked at the procedures, I will not lie, I was shocked at the lengthy process, that at any presented point prior to the genuine Senate impeachment trial proceedings could disqualify the copious quantities of proof that show clear and repetitive steps of felony, corruption, and neglect of duty by Governor Torres in excess of these a number of a long time. Devoid of the proof to back it up, the impeachment procedure is incomplete,” she explained.

“Doing what is correct is in no way uncomplicated, but it is constantly the proper factor to do. So, senators, we inquire that you do what is correct for the people today: to be honest. These policies? They are not good. They skew in favor of this impeached governor.”

Democrat Rep. Corina Magofna then stepped up to the podium to also supply her opinions.

“If the Senate overall body moves forward and adopts the impeachment policies as it is, then you are going to be encroaching and overreaching into the Household of Representatives’ qualities to prosecute the situation that’s right before us. Plain and simple,” she stated.

As for the rule to restrict the impeachment prosecutor to just the Dwelling lawful counsel and staff members, Santos mentioned this is “unjust, unethical, unfair, and unreasonable” to the Residence of Associates.

“If these overreaching actions were reciprocated, I undeniably doubt that the Senate would consent and tolerate this sort of disregard [for] the separation of the homes of Legislature, and this has been echoed by various associates of the Property of Reps,” she added.

She also observed that there have been no constraints placed on who the impeached official can have as lawful counsel and staff members for the impeachment proceedings.

“Again, this is hugely biased, partial, and unfair to the Dwelling of Associates… I am not a authorized expert, but dependent on my comprehending of the proposed rules, the Senate will not be conducting a good and neutral demo and, if these policies are adopted, we may possibly not even have a demo at all. The proposed guidelines are littered with bias. It is particularly evident and evident that the scales of justice have been deliberately tipped to accommodate the impeached,” she claimed.

According to Sen. Deleon Guerrero, “It is apparent that the adopted impeachment principles do not spell justice.”

Senator Manglona similarly opposed the impeachment procedures.
